What
is Juvederm?
Juvederm is a dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic
acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that exists in our
bodies and provides fullness and volume to our skin. As we age, our
skin changes. The natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish
and wrinkles, folds, and creases form. With Juvederm, you don’t have
to just sit back and let it happen. Juvederm replaces the hyaluronic
acid we have lost as we have aged.
Why Juvederm?
Dermal fillers provide temporary improvement. Most dermal fillers
last an average of 6 months. Juvederm is the first FDA-approved
hyaluronic acid dermal filler that shows persistence for up to one
(1) year!
Where can I have Juvederm injections?
Juvederm can be used to correct a variety of wrinkles, creases, and
folds. The most common treatment areas are the nasolabial folds
(from the nose to the mouth – like your “smile lines” and your
“parenthesis”) and the glabellar area (between eyebrows like your
“number elevens”).
How long will the Juvederm treatments last?
Juvederm is the first and only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal
filler that shows persistence for up to one (1) year! But as with
any treatment, longevity of desired results varies from patient to
patient.
Is Juvederm safe?
Yes! Juvederm is a “next generation” filler. It is made from
hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in your skin that
helps to hydrate and add volume. These products offer a safe and
effective nonsurgical option for smoothing facial wrinkles and
folds. Juvederm should only be administered in a medical setting by
a licensed healthcare professional.
What should I expect with a Juvederm
treatment?
Our licensed healthcare professional will examine the soft tissue of
your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine
your treatment. A topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the
treatment area. After the anesthetic has had time to numb the areas,
our healthcare professional will ease the Juvederm injectable gel
under your skin to augment, or fill, wrinkles and folds. Following
the injection, our healthcare professional may gently massage the
treatment areas.
What should I do after my Juvederm treatment?
For the first 24 hours following treatment, you should avoid
strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption
of alcoholic beverages in order to help minimize the risks of
temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the treatment sites.
After the treatment, some temporary injection-related reactions may
occur, such as minor redness, swelling, and bumps. This may last up
to 7 days.
When will I see results from my Juvederm
treatment?
You should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Most
patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing.
And one treatment could smooth your lines and wrinkles for up to 1
year! However, results may vary and correction is temporary.
Supplemental “touch up” treatments may be required to achieve and
maintain optimal results. |
